Eat Like You
Know What
You’re Doing.
One email a day. 30 days. No meal plans, no calorie counting, no banned foods. Just the clarity about your eating habits that most men over 40 never take the time to develop.
Most men over 40 don’t have a nutrition problem. They have an awareness problem.
They eat on autopilot. The same meals, the same habits, the same patterns — day after day — and then wonder why nothing changes. They try a new diet. It works for two weeks. Life happens. They’re back to square one.
The issue isn’t willpower. It isn’t discipline. It’s that most men have never actually stopped to look at what they’re doing.
“You can’t change what you haven’t looked at. And once you see your habits clearly, you don’t need someone else’s rules to fix them.”
That’s the idea behind this challenge. Over 30 days, you’ll get one email a day — each with one insight, one honest question to sit with, and one small action. Nothing takes more than a few minutes. But by the end, you’ll understand your relationship with food in a way most men never take the time to develop.
No meal plans. No banned foods. No calorie tracking. Just 30 days of paying attention — and the clarity that comes with it.
What the 30 days covers
Six weekly themes, each building on the last — from honest observation through to something genuinely sustainable.
What you’ll walk away with
-
A clear picture of your current eating habitsProbably the first genuinely honest look most men have ever taken — without judgment and without a score sheet.
-
What protein, fat and carbs actually do at 40+Without the myths, without the influencer noise — and specific to how your body works now versus at 25.
-
Honest conversations about alcohol, stress eating and late-night habitsThe patterns most programmes pretend don’t exist in the real lives of real men.
-
The myths wasting your time and money — debunked clearlyFrom the 8 glasses of water rule to the 6pm eating curfew. Evidence over received wisdom.
-
A simple plate framework — no tracking requiredA mental model you can apply to any meal, anywhere, without weighing or logging a single gram.
-
Your personal version of eating well — not someone else’sBy Day 30 you’ll have defined what sustainable, conscious eating actually looks like for your life. That’s what sticks.
What lands in your inbox
Every email follows the same structure: one focused insight, one reflection question, one action for the day. Here’s a sample from Day 11 — the one about alcohol.
I’m not here to tell you not to drink. You’re an adult, you’ve made your choices. What I am going to do is give you the honest picture of what alcohol does to your body at 40+, and let you decide what to do with that information.
Testosterone. Alcohol — particularly in larger quantities — suppresses testosterone production. At 40, when testosterone is naturally starting to decline, this matters more than it did at 25.
Sleep. This is the big one. Alcohol disrupts your sleep architecture significantly — particularly REM sleep, where your body repairs muscle, consolidates memory, and regulates hormones. You might spend 8 hours in bed and wake up feeling like you had 5…
How many units do you drink in a typical week — honestly? And what does your sleep, energy and training look like the day after drinking?
Track your alcohol intake alongside your food log this week. Not to judge it — just to see it clearly. Then notice the correlation between drinking days and how you feel the following morning.
Who this is for
Men over 40 who train regularly (or want to), feel like they eat reasonably well, but aren’t seeing the results they expect — and are tired of being told to follow a meal plan that has no relationship to their actual life.
The man who knows something needs to change but doesn’t want another 12-week transformation programme that collapses the moment a social occasion gets in the way.
It’s not for men who want to be told exactly what to eat and when. This challenge gives you understanding, not instructions. If you’re looking for a meal plan, this isn’t it.
Who’s behind it
I’m James. I’m 50, heading to 51, and I’ve been training for 34+ years. I coach men through body transformations and I’m in better shape now than I was at 30 — not because I follow the latest protocol, but because I understand my body and make consistent, conscious choices.
Everything in this challenge is drawn directly from the same philosophy I bring to all my coaching: train clean, think deep, live strong. Not a 30-day fix. A lifetime of better decisions.
Frequently asked questions
How does the challenge work?
You purchase and receive one email per day for 30 days. Each takes 3–5 minutes to read and includes one idea, one reflection question, and one action. You also get a PDF of all 30 emails to keep and revisit any time.
Do I need to follow a specific diet to take part?
No. The challenge works alongside whatever you’re currently doing. It’s about awareness and understanding — not prescribing a specific way to eat.
What if I miss a day?
The emails are yours to keep. Nothing expires. Miss a day, pick it back up the next morning. The PDF means you can read the whole thing at your own pace.
Is this just for bodybuilders?
Not at all. Any man over 40 who wants to understand his habits and make smarter food choices will get value from this — competitive level or not.
Will there be calorie targets or macro tracking?
No. This challenge is deliberately designed without targets, trackers, or numbers. It’s about building the foundation. Everything else is easier once you have that.
